Sunday, June 5, 2016 Benefit Concert

As you may have heard on the news, there was a major fire in White Rock recently that left 100 people homeless. The White Rock Blues Society will be holding a benefit concert for these people, which will take place on Sunday, June 5, 2016 from 1 until 7 pm. The event takes place at the Pacific Inn Hotel, 1160 King George Blvd., in South Surrey. There will be a number of acts performing, and Gale Force Blues (Manny Zumm’s group) will be the closing act. I hope all of you will be able to come out and support these people, many of whom have lost everything. Admission is by donation (minimum $10 per person) at the door. Cash only and no advance sales. There will be food (BBQ) available and a cash bar. I am not sure that any of these will be available using a credit card as food and drink at most WRBS events are cash only. We really hope you can find the time to join Manny and other META members for a day of great music and delicious food. The guy supplying the BBQ is the real deal, so come hungry!!

Worker Licences & Forms

Don’t forget that you are responsible for supplying the Marshal Evaluation form if you wish to be evaluated. You need 2 worker evaluations (in addition to the required days worked) to upgrade your noviceTrack Marshal license to a Senior Track Marshal license.

If you have not already done so apply for your 2016 Officials Licence. Online application is required. Those that wait for the last minute may find that even paying the $35 rush fee will not get their licence before the race they wish to work, so do it now. Please note that the CACC licence should be acceptable at SCCA events as an FIA recognized licence therefore you may find that you no longer need to have an SCCA license as well.

The New META Quick Response Code for use in promotional material.

What is a QR code?

A QR code (abbreviated from Quick Response Code) is the trademark for a type of matrix barcode (or two-dimensional bar code). For more information go to: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/QR_code.

How is a QR code used?

For devices, such as smart phones, that have a QR reader installed the reader can be used to scan the code and connect the device to a website (or have it dial a phone number, start an email to a specified email address, etc.) that the QR that is embedded in the QR code.

Why use a QR code?

Rather than rely on someone to remember or type in information, your target audience can just scan the code and have their device do the work. If someone is interested, once their smart device had the information they can refer to it at a later date or deal with it on the spot.
