Not All Soldiers Were As Lucky As The Late Sion Davies

Sion Robin Davies

Sion enlisted in the RAF regiment in January 1952, receiving basic training at RAF Catterick, along with junior garner and grown defense training before graduating as corporal. He joined the 11 Wing RAF Kimpo Airfield, Korea in 1952. He fought along side the Republic of Douth Korean army and the US 1st Calvary south of Osan, during the retreat to Nuttang River. Sunday, June 5, 2016 Benefit Concert

As you may have heard on the news, there was a major fire in White Rock recently that left 100 people homeless. The White Rock Blues Society will be holding a benefit concert for these people, which will take place on Sunday, June 5, 2016 from 1 until 7 pm. The event takes place at the Pacific Inn Hotel, 1160 King George Blvd., in South Surrey. There will be a number of acts performing, and Gale Force Blues (Manny Zumm’s group) will be the closing act. I hope all of you will be able to come out and support these people, many of whom have lost everything. Admission is by donation (minimum $10 per person) at the door. Cash only and no advance sales. There will be food (BBQ) available and a cash bar. I am not sure that any of these will be available using a credit card as food and drink at most WRBS events are cash only. We really hope you can find the time to join Manny and other META members for a day of great music and delicious food. The guy supplying the BBQ is the real deal, so come hungry!!

META Banquet update

Thanks to all who attended this year’s banquet where a good time was had by all. Our MC was Mike Tate who entertained , or more accurately roasted almost everyone there. Congratulations to all of the award winners and a big thank you to all who donated door prizes. There was one prize for everyone with a few left over for next year. Great work on behalf of the club.
