Sion Davies, a META member since 2002, lost his battle with cancer on Tuesday May 24, after spending 3 weeks in the Mission Hospital. Sion was also a racer in his younger years.
There will be an Memorial Service for Sion on Sunday the 5th of June 11:00 o’clock at the Royal Canadian Legion # 57 in Mission BC (32627 Logan Ave.).
As you may have heard on the news, there was a major fire in White Rock recently that left 100 people homeless. The White Rock Blues Society will be holding a benefit concert for these people, which will take place on Sunday, June 5, 2016 from 1 until 7 pm. The event takes place at the Pacific Inn Hotel, 1160 King George Blvd., in South Surrey. There will be a number of acts performing, and Gale Force Blues (Manny Zumm’s group) will be the closing act. I hope all of you will be able to come out and support these people, many of whom have lost everything. Admission is by donation (minimum $10 per person) at the door. Cash only and no advance sales. There will be food (BBQ) available and a cash bar. I am not sure that any of these will be available using a credit card as food and drink at most WRBS events are cash only. We really hope you can find the time to join Manny and other META members for a day of great music and delicious food. The guy supplying the BBQ is the real deal, so come hungry!!
Our next meeting will be held on March 23, 2016 at Boston Pizza, 1045 Columbia St, New Westminster at 7:30pm. Hope to see you there. All are welcome to attend.
Thanks to all who attended this year’s banquet where a good time was had by all. Our MC was Mike Tate who entertained , or more accurately roasted almost everyone there. Congratulations to all of the award winners and a big thank you to all who donated door prizes. There was one prize for everyone with a few left over for next year. Great work on behalf of the club.
Here is the new executive for 2016:
- President: Roger Salomon
- Vice President: Dallis Smith
- Treasurer: Angus Glass
- Secretary: Mike Bailey
Congratulations to all of you.
Don’t forget that you are responsible for supplying the Marshal Evaluation form if you wish to be evaluated. You need 2 worker evaluations (in addition to the required days worked) to upgrade your noviceTrack Marshal license to a Senior Track Marshal license.
If you have not already done so apply for your 2016 Officials Licence. Online application is required. Those that wait for the last minute may find that even paying the $35 rush fee will not get their licence before the race they wish to work, so do it now. Please note that the CACC licence should be acceptable at SCCA events as an FIA recognized licence therefore you may find that you no longer need to have an SCCA license as well.
